Fall Classic Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canada and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase compared to the last finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two straight seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American viewership reached 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise over last year and the network’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 different tongues.
